| With the
popularity of golf increasing, both locally and internationally, the
need to balance and co-exist on and environmental level increases as
well, due to the fact that most golf courses are constructed near
streams and rivers. This close proximity to environmentally
sensitive areas can potentially have a negative impact on water and
wildlife habitat.
Belmont Golf Course has addressed this need for
co-existence by developing a "Naturalization Plan" as part
of a series of environmental management initiatives for its 120 acre
golf course. The object of this plan is to enhance and increase
the availability of habitat for the wildlife that naturally occurs in
and around the golf course. Specific initiatives include:
In addition the plan includes an information
component designed to inform and educate employees, members, guests
and general public as to the values associated with naturalizing the
golf course.
